Footlong lobster rolls that will leave you wanting more. Sarasota, Florida.

It’s been a while since I’ve flexed my fingers on the blog after the craziness of the past couple of months.

Let me start by saying that we have neglected our eating out dates since finally getting our very own apartment, after 8 years of traveling. Yep, you heard me! We are now stationary, and settled in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, for the foreseeable future.

If you follow me on Facebook, or Instagram, at “A Hangry Wife” then you will definitely know how much love we’ve poured into our little kitchen, and I can already feel the nods of affirmation at all of those homemade dinner posts over the past couple of months.

Fear not though, I am back and ready to write away your hunger woes in my typical witty fashion. I’ve missed foodie writing, I’ve missed hunting for new restaurants, and I’ve missed the excitement of a great local find.

To break the blog silence today I’m bringing you “Rockstar Lobster”.

Why? You ask… well, who doesn’t want a footlong lobster roll on a hot Florida day?

I know I do, and I know that you do too.

I can’t imagine a more perfect combination than that of lobster meat, the sunshine, and a great beer to enjoy the day … but before you start dribbling all over yourself, let’s get down to the meaning of Rockstar Lobster.

Maine is famous for its succulently fresh tasting Lobster, and rightfully so: the clear, cold waters of Maine are the perfect breeding grounds for these little claw snapping crustaceans … so much so that fine dining restaurants from around the world long to get their hands on what is known to be “the best tasting lobster in the world,” and can you blame them?

Rockstar Lobster is co-owned, and ran, by proud Mainer ‘Alex Paulin’ who originates from Limestone, Maine.

If you’ve ever been to Maine you’ll salivate in the fact that you can find yourself a delicious lobster, fresh off of a boat, almost year round.

But, if you have yet to make it to Maine then how do you get your hands on a lobster roll, and join in on the hype?

Enter, Rockstar Lobster.

Their goal is to bring fresh, delicious Maine lobster right to your doorstep here in Florida, so that you too can enjoy what you are surely missing out on.

Rockstar Lobster travels daily to events in Florida, and prides itself on fast efficient service that will leave you wanting more.

Recently, I found myself at Big Top Brewing in Sarasota, FL, standing outside of Rockstar Lobster; my stomach growled in hunger, and my eyes darted back and forth across the menu, unable to make a choice.

The lobster rolls – stuffed with predominantly claw and knuckle meat – range from 2oz, 3oz, 4oz, and a humongous 10oz. The prices range from $11 up to $50, and the choice is yours as to whether or not you take your lobster heated, or chilled.

Chilled is the traditional way in which a Mainer would typically eat a lobster roll, but some hungry punters prefer heated, and I’m here to say that either way is fine by me as long as I can get my hands on that sweet juicy meat.

If you’re not feeling very lobster roll ready, then you can always pick one of the other items on their extensive menu.

Here’s what they offer: lobster fries, chicken tenders, Mac and cheese bites, bacon cheese fries, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, bacon cheeseburgers, and so much more.

I, without a doubt, will pick lobster at every chance I get, and I think that you should too.

Today, I took the plunge and went all in with the $50, 10oz Maine-iac lobster roll which measured in strong on a whopping footlong roll.

I could see my husbands eyes gleaming as the roll was lavished with golden butter, before hitting the grill.

It didn’t take long before we had the roll within our grasps.

The process was quick: the buttered roll crisped beautifully on the grill, before the chilled meat – our temperature preference – was pilled high within the bun, and hot steaming butter was poured – via ladle – across the top of those lobster claw mountain peaks, before soaking dreamily into the bun.

It was a dinner fit for Royalty, and it took everything in me to not claw the box from my husbands hands like a monster, and dig in.

Impatiently, I sat down at the table and shifted back and forth in excitement. My wide puppy eyes watched as my husband raised the roll up into the sky, before lowering it into my arms.

I’ll never forget seeing the roll above me, blocking out the sun, as the rays shone from all sides, making it seem almost angelic in its glowing beauty.

I’ve never held a newborn baby, but cradling that fat half-footlong, lobster stuffed roll in my hands was probably the closest I’ll ever get. It was a baby lobster bundle of joy.

I would also like to say that I am not over exaggerating when I say that this lobster roll was huge.

Every inch of that soft footlong bun was filled to the brim with the most deliciously sweet, firm, lobster meat.

In a perfect movie style world my husband and I would have maybe fed each other the lobster roll halves while staring longingly into each other’s eyes, or maybe we would have left the footlong intact and nibbled our way from both ends, Lady and the Tramp style, before meeting in the middle for a buttery lobster kiss … but this is not the movies, and the Hanger is real.

In silence we took our first bite.

I hate to admit it, but I struggled to get my mouth around the roll and the generous amount of lobster inside, but of course I made it work seamlessly with a squash and a shove, and sank my teeth in unabashedly.

The chilled lobster, mixed in with the warm butter/bun was a sensory explosion, and the lobster tasted so sweet paired with the salty butter that if I had been standing up, I would have definitely felt my knees go weak.

Across the table, I could see my husband silently having the same fantastic experience as I, and if only to confirm our sheer bliss, our eyes met for a few seconds and we nodded like bobble heads with wide eyes, before focusing back on the chow-down.

I felt almost hamster like as each bite filled my cheeks and mouth to the point of overload, and I raised a hand to hide as much hamster cheek as I possibly could. I felt almost barbaric as I chewed my way through the rest of the roll, the butter running down my hands towards my elbows, and later I’d revel in the fact that it was one of the most delicious, and messy, experiences I’ve had this summer.

These rolls lived up to the hype, and I can say with certainty that you will not be disappointed with your purchase.

All too soon my lobster roll disappeared, as most food does, and I was left with the memory and longing for more.

For the rest of the week my husband and I would tell everyone and anyone about our experience, and count the days until Rockstar Lobster parked up once more in our area.

I am so happy to announce that Maine lobster has officially arrived in Florida, and you’d be a fool to miss it.

Head on over to @Rockstar Lobsters Facebook page to see where the next event will take place, and grab yourself a delicious Maine Lobster roll.

My husband and I have now visited the truck 3 times, and have only fallen more and more in love.

Until next time,
